S. Holmes
Chapter 5
Holmes told Watson that he had gone to visit Mr. McFarlane's mother. He discovered that Mr. Oldacre had once asked her to marry him,and had been furious when she refused him only to marry a penniless man instead. Which is why it's so strange that he wanted to leave all his belongins to Mr. McFarlane.
Holmes had also been to the deceased's house, but the housekeeper hadn't offered much information. He discovered that Mr. Oldacre was not as rich as everyone supposed him to be, and that he had written a lot of cheques to an unknown Mr. Cornelius.
Chapter 6
Holmes found no possible solution that would prove McFarlane's inocence, despite going through it all night.
Next morning a telegram arrived at Baker Street. Lestrade apparently had evidence of McFarlane's crime. So Holmes and Watson went to Deep Dene House. The evidence turned out to be a thumbprint in blood on the wall, that the housekeeper has found. Lestrade was furthermore convinced pf McFarlane's involvement in the crime; Holmes, however, had not found the thumbprint when he visited the house, the day before.
I have been in similar situation, I remembered once a time when my mother was furios because losed it in my house. She was investiging for found it.
